What's On

    Friendship Lunch

First Thursday of each month, 12:30pm

On the first Thursday of each month between 30 and 40 people gather in the church centre at 12:30pm for a "Friendship Lunch" of soup and dessert. This lunch is open to anyone who is able to attend. It is a time when people are able to relax and get to know each other a bit better in a relaxed atmosphere. It is unusual for everyone to leave at 1:45pm, since people take advantage of the chance to chat. There is usually a short epilogue/thought given by someone towards the end of the time. There is a nominal charge for the Lunch.

    Open Circle

Third Thursday of each month, 2pm – 3:30pm

We are a group who are open to all ladies and gentlemen who would like to join us for a time of friendship, faith and fun. We usually meet from 2pm – 3:30pm on the third Thursday of each month between September and June and have a varied programme of speakers and outings.

We have had visits from an Olympian swimming official, a member of the Fire and Rescue service, a teacher who went to Africa. This session we look forward to hearing from a member of Perth Baptist Church recently returned from Peru, the Handbell ringers of Dunkeld, and a champion canoeist amongst others.

Our aim is that through time to listen and be listened to, all will feel welcomed and valued. As we deepen relationships with one another, we want to encourage all in their faith walk too, and of course, there is always time for a cup of tea.

    Nurture Group

    Wednesdays, 4pm

The Nurture Group is in many ways the equivalent of a housegroup for young people. It has an informal format and is aimed at anyone in the Youth fellowship and their friends who want to meet for a time of prayer and Bible study. The informal format and setting are intended to encourage participation, and the meetings provide opportunities for the young people to apply God's Word to their lives and to discuss and pray about situations which arise in school and other aspects of their lives. Sometimes the group have used the same study material as the "PBC groups", but at times other material has been used.

Using a minibus we attend a number of different venues throughout the week and have enjoyed visiting places such as Glasgow Science Centre, St Andrew's beach, M&Ds, Airspace, Laser-Station and many more.

    Youth Days

Throughout the year we enjoy meeting up as a youth group and spending time with each other. The days are designed around a theme such as Superhero September. Fun, food and fellowship is always a guarantee!

Alpha is a series of interactive sessions that freely explore the basics of the Christian faith. No pressure. No follow-up. No charge. Venue: Perth Baptist Church Next course: TBC For more information go to alpha.org or to reserve a place email the church office. ﷯ When and where did it start? Alpha was started by the Holy Trinity Church, Brompton, in London, as a means of letting interested people find out about Christianity. Since 1977 it has grown worldwide, and is run by a wide number and variety of churches from all the Christian denominations. In 1996 a quarter of a million people attended one of 3,000 Alpha courses – 45,000 involved in any week of the year. What does a course involve? Courses run for 10 weeks covering basic aspects of the Christian faith. Topics include: Who is Jesus? Why did Jesus die? How can I be sure? Why read the Bible? Why and how should we pray? What about the Holy Spirit? How can I resist evil? How does God guide us? Why and how should we tell others? Does God heal today? What about the church? Christianity – Boring, Untrue, Irrelevant? Where and when is there a course near me? For details of the next course contact the church office. What do we do? The format is variable. We may meet in a home or in the church, during the day or in the evening, depending on what suits. We always have coffee and cake (or light snack) and watch one of the Alpha video talks. These last for about 45 minutes and lead into discussion. There is no pressure, and the atmosphere is totally informal. Will everyone know more than me? No prior knowledge is needed to participate. What does it cost? There are no course fees, it's free. So what do I do if I am interested? If you think that you, or someone you know, may be interested, then email us to get further details or book your place. Also see the official Alpha Course website for more background. ﷯

Marriage is under attack in our society. In the church however we believe that marriage remains vitally important and as such we want to help marriages not merely survive – but thrive!

That is why we run the “Marriage Course”. The Marriage Course is a seven-week course for any married couple, designed to help them strengthen their relationship – whether they have been married for decades or are newlyweds!

A marriage course evening begins with a meal, is followed by watching a video which deals with an essential element of marriage, and then times of private discussion between spouses. There are no embarrassing group discussions!

There is a charge for the course of £30/person, (or what you can afford) which covers the costs of the course manuals and the food. For more information contact the church office, or see the official website and video.
